The Art of Gordon Crosby book By Peter Garnier

Originally published by Hamlyn in 1978, this book probably introduced many a young enthusiast to the work of this great automotive artist and to an ear of racing before their time.

Crosby worked for The Autocar in the Thirties and Forties, and his output ranges from charcoal sketches to full works in oil.

Communicating speed, power and drama is his forte and his studies of so many great racing duels of the early Twentieth Century convey those themes so well.

But you’ll find a lot more in here; landscapes, romance and some comically nightmarish cartoons. Absorbing.
